The #FridayTop5 is back after a one week hiatus! Let us hope that never happens again….
Here are your five tracks from the week to get you through the weekend and keep you buzzin through next week. Dancehall and Afrobeats on this one with some rootsy rootsy niceness from Busy at number 2.
#1. Sizzla – Hardcore
This was the standout track on Sizzla’s “Radical” album released last April. The album is a compilation of unreleased tracks recorded during a 10 year period, from 92-03. This track is high-energy and positive as most of his songs are.
#2. Busy Signal – Today 4u Tomorrow
Busy brings a rootsy feeling track dealing with the modern day struggles, corrupt politicians, poverty and making it through day to day. Always looking towards the future though, there’s always tomorrow.
#3. Sarkodie ft. Samini – Love Rocks
This track makes it onto the chart because of two reasons, it’s good, and it features Afrobeats artists spitting over reggae drops! The combination is simply #PureNiceness with touches or Barrington Levy’s “Murderer” if you listen close, doesn’t even matter if you don’t speak Pidgen…
#4. Massicka ft. Navino – Money Mi A Pree
“Haffi get rich so money mi a pree!” Here’s a modern Dancehall track, showing how far production quality has come in the industry, queue the autotune and synths and get ready to jam.
#5. Lamaj – Tingele
Lamaj aka Slim Zaky with a catchy hook on this Afrobeats track. Try and not shake to this one, won’t happen.
