Another excellent release coming from the Mr. Bongo label out of the UK, this time from “Horseman”. This album is pure energy for 12 straight tracks and offers a real, original Dancehall sound which is described by Reggaemani as “vintage, in an 80’s way”. Twelve tracks of feel good, bass driven, drum happy, and lyrically catchy Dancehall music. Yes!
Mostly known for his prolific drumming ability and extensive credentials including working with the likes of Barrington Levy, John Holt, Gregory Isaacs, Eek A Mouse, and most recently Hollie Cook (also from the Mr. Bongo label), Horseman is apparently just as prolific on the mic and he shows off on “Dawn of the Dread”.
The album is produced by “Prince Fatty” who’s name is heralded in the UK reggae scene and is described by Horseman as having “THE sound”, not just A sound. His work with Hollie Cook on her self-titled debut (which features Horseman) and her follow up release “Twice” is outstanding and an example of the diversity and creativity Prince Fatty carries.
