The Beautiful Girls – Dancehall Days. Dub or Dud?

This is the first time hearing about Aussie musician Matt Mchugh and “The Beautiful Girls” musical efforts. Still it’s important to listen to and spread the word about “Dancehall Days”, the first release in four years and an album which ironically will not be categorized as a Dancehall album in our records. This sound would most likely be described as an electropopdub mix, maybe an expected result to be coming from Australia.

Track 5 “Real Love” sound like a track that could have been produced by Ricky Blaze, versed by Gyptian but was redone by Sting and the Police. Track 7 “Dancehall Days” smells straight up of a Gorillaz track. Yes, strange.

Either way it goes to show there is a taste and take on Jamaican culture and music to suit everyone. Have a listen and make up your own mind. Dub or Dud?
